How to Create a Keplr Account

Download Keplr Extension that is compatible with your browser. Once downloaded, open up the extension to start the registration process

Click on the Keplr icon on your browser extension bar to open the wallet creation page.

• Option 1: Create new wallets on Keplr

  1. Click on 'Create new wallet' (follow steps 3-5)
  2. To create your second wallet address (follow Steps 6-7)
  3. Connect Keplr Wallet to Check Your Celestia Address here

• Option 2: Use a hardware wallet (Ledger):

  1. Click on 'Connect a Hardware Wallet' and follow Steps 8-10
  2. To create your second wallet address via Ledger follow Steps 11
  3. Connect Keplr Wallet to Check Your Celestia Address here

Keplr extension currently offers two options for creating an account.

For higher security we would recommend registering via recovery phrase.

If you are a beginner and are less experienced with self-custodial wallets, you can also choose to sign up with your Google or Apple IDs. (However, note that a compromised Google or Apple account can lead to loss of funds)

You can choose either 12 or 24 Recovery Phrase words for your new wallet.

🚫 DO NOT share your recovery phrase with ANYONE. Anyone with your recovery phrase can take your assets. Please stay vigilant against phishing attacks at all times.

🔒 Back up the phrase safely. You will lose your assets if you lose your recovery phrase. We recommend you always store it offline. Keplr does not store your recovery phrase.

Verify your Recovery Phrase words on the next page and fill the information as required and click 'Next'. 

On the 'Select Chains' page, Cosmos Hub will remain selected by default. Celestia network will be available once the mainnet launches.

Proceed to the end of the registration process. If you see this page, then your account has been successfully created and the Keplr Extension is ready for use.

Click on 'Finish' to close the registration instructions.

You can create your second wallet address using the same Recovery Phrase words as your first wallet address OR with a new set of Recovery Phrase words.

1. In the Keplr extension, click the 'Profile icon'.

2. You should already see your first wallet. Click on 'Add Wallet'. Follow step 4 to create a new wallet on Keplr.

2. Click 'Import an existing wallet'.

3. Enter your Recovery Phrase for the first wallet address.

4. Click on the 'Advance button' to modify the derivation path. This enables you to create multiple addresses from one set of Recovery Phrase words. Increase the last digit from 0 to 1 (as shown below):

   

5. Click 'Import'. If you want to learn more about hierarchical derivation paths - see here.

6. Create a wallet name and click 'Next'.

On the 'Select Chains' page, Cosmos Hub will remain selected by default. Celestia network will be available once the mainnet launches.

Proceed to the end of the registration process. If you see this page, then your account has been successfully created and the Keplr Extension is ready for use. Click on 'Finish' to close the registration instructions.

Install the 'Cosmos' app on your Ledger using Ledger Live.

Click on Connect Hardware Wallet, then 'Connect Ledger' on the Keplr app.

Set a name for your wallet. Click 'Next'.

Connect and unlock your Ledger. Open the Cosmos app on your Ledger device and click on Next.

On the Select Chains page, Cosmos Hub will remain selected by default. Celestia network will be available once the mainnet launches.

Click on 'Finish' to close the registration instructions.

In your Keplr extension, go to the user profile and click 'Add Wallet'. Follow the above steps to connect the Hardware Wallet.

In the 'Set wallet name' stage, click on the 'Advanced' button, then input the last 'address_index' value to 1.
